Paintings and Sculptures
In my artistic work, I seek to express the drama that I create by building the scene and atmosphere. As a set and costume designer, I use the painting surface and sculpture as a theatrical stage that creates a play which I write, direct, visually design, and act. The imperfect, heavy, rounded, and abundant figures are ordinary people; they are the human body in motion, in a pose, in a gesture. Colours, lines, surfaces, and textures create a composition that allows me to express human dynamics encompassing a system of emotions such as harmony and disharmony, surrender and power, rejection and desire, humour, mockery, and melancholia. In my artwork, I manipulate lines, colours, and textures to create atmosphere, an event, and an idea.
