Longing for the Era.
Some studies claim that we are stuck with the music we listened to in our teens, and that music triggers our nostalgia and longing for a time gone by.
I did my homework with the radio and the hit parade. That was the only connection with the big world and music stars. I only saw Elvis in the movies; I read about Woodstock in the newspapers.
We heard about the colorful, loud, and bustling world out there, but we have never seen it. In that world, everyone was beautiful, glamorous, and important. We lived with visual limitations!
So, I paint as if I am there, I am in bed with John and Yoko, dancing in the mud at Woodstock with Janis and Jimi, and also at the disco with Travolta, and in Vegas with Elvis. I am the director, the choreographer, the costume, and set designer. When I combine all these elements, I recreate the world I was not a part of growing up.
Now, in the world of art that I created, I am there!
